When the car wiper stops working, there are usually two reasons:
Reason 1: The car wiper motor is broken
The wiper needs a motor to drive it, so when the motor fails, the wiper loses its power source and naturally stops working.
The wiper motor is installed in the rain groove under the front windshield and under the wiper arm. The owner can disassemble it and touch it with his hand. If it feels hot, it means that the motor is damaged and replacing it can solve the problem.
The replacement steps are as follows:
1. Open the hood and cut off the vehicle power supply (disconnect the negative pole of the battery) to ensure that there is no electric shock during the disassembly process;
2. Remove the fixing nut of the wiper and then remove the wiper;
3. Remove the lower trim panel of the front windshield. Generally, manufacturers use clips to fix it. Be careful not to break it when removing it;
4. Find the car wiper motor on the right side facing the front of the car, unplug the plug, and remove the motor;
5. After installing the new motor, plug it in; then reinstall the previously removed parts.
Reason 2: The car wiper fuse is burned
Electrical equipment on the vehicle will have a fuse to protect its working circuit. Once the current in the circuit is too large, the fuse will burn out to protect the circuit.
Therefore, after eliminating the motor failure, you can check whether the car wiper fuse is blown. The car fuse box is generally on the right side of the engine compartment. After opening the cover, you can find the corresponding position of the wiper fuse according to the position instructions on the cover and replace it.
Compared to other vehicle failures, wiper strike is relatively easy to eliminate. Of course, if the owner is not confident in his own operation, he can also go directly to the auto repair shop for troubleshooting. At the same time, in order to reduce the probability of wiper failure, daily maintenance is also essential.
Daily maintenance, pay attention to these points!
Don’t dry scrape the glass
Many car owners always like to use wipers as feather dusters, and often scrape the glass without spraying water. Little do they know that doing so will make the water spray motor unloaded and accelerate damage. The correct approach should be to manually remove larger dirt, such as fallen leaves, branches, etc., and then spray glass water first, wait until the glass is wet, and then turn on the wiper to scrape the glass.
As for the choice of glass water, neutral, decontamination, and lubrication should be selected, and attention should be paid to timely addition. If inferior glass water is used for a long time, it is likely to corrode the wiper strips and accelerate their aging. If it is not replaced in time, it will also wear out the windshield.
Avoid long-term contact between wipers and windshield
Whether it is hot in summer or rainy and snowy in winter, it is recommended that car owners try to stand up the wipers after parking, or use small things such as wooden strips and heat insulation cotton to pad under the wipers, so as to prevent the wiper rubber strips from being damaged by high temperature or frost, thereby affecting the normal operation of the wipers.
In addition, in summer, the vehicle should be parked in a cool place as much as possible to prevent the wiper rubber strips from being exposed to the sun and aging faster.
Lubricate the car wipers regularly
Any equipment needs to be lubricated as long as it is used, and wipers are no exception. The intersection of the wiper arm and the tension spring of the wiper arm are often lubricated with loosening agent to reduce the friction between the wiper and the glass. If the friction is too large, the motor will not be able to drive the wiper to operate normally, resulting in abnormal noise.
In addition, car owners should not forget to observe the wipers from time to time, such as whether the amplitude of the wiper swing has increased, whether there is a situation where the wiper is not scraped cleanly, etc., to avoid problems when they need to be used.
